PRE - EXPLORE SINGAPORE - 2025

Discover Singapore’s contrasting cultures and fascinating history on a tour of its eclectic neighborhoods coupled with a sightseeing cruise on the Singapore River. Enjoy lunch and marvel at the skyline from the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and tour Gardens by the Bay, a sprawling waterfront garden and nature park followed by a signature Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel, the oldest hotel in Singapore.

NOTE: Please advise the Destination Team via Reservations or Guest Services at least two weeks prior to your travel of any seafood allergies or dietary restrictions. Once in Singapore changes to lunch menus may not be possible.

DAY 1

Upon arriving at the Singapore International Airport, you will be met in the public arrivals area just outside of baggage claim and transferred to your hotel.

Check in time is 3:00pm. Rooms may or may not be ready before this time. Guests with early arriving flights may wish to book an extra night to ensure a ready room upon your arrival.

Lunch and dinner are on your own.

The Mandarin Oriental is an award-winning property with a prime location close to the financial hub and easy access to luxury boutiques and entertainment venues. It houses five renowned restaurants, an award-winning bar and a lounge overlooking the spectacular Marina Bay.

DAY 2

After breakfast, you will be met by your guide for an introductory tour to discover the multi religion and culture of Singapore.

Begin with an exploration of Waterloo Street where you will find several well-known landmarks, including the Kwan Imm Thong Hood Cho Temple, Maghain Aboth Synagogue, Sculpture Square, and Sri Krishnan Temple. The Maghain Aboth Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in Singapore and was built by the local Jewish community in 1878. Here you will experience how the locals adapt to each other’s culture and religion.

Next take a walk along Albert Street which was originally lined with two-story shop houses, and was famous for its Chinese restaurants, bars, medicine shops and food stalls. You can still see some of the old traditional retail shops within this area.

You will also see the business district that is responsible for the nation's fiscal security and drive through the historic Padang or colonial area. Have your camera ready as architecture and foliage combine to create the perfect backdrop for you to capture the landmarks of Singapore's colonial past.

Continue with a visit to Chinatown where you will walk through its alleyways and visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre. Housed within 3 traditional shop houses, each level of the Heritage Centre takes you to a different period in the history of Chinatown, and allows you to trace the lives of its early occupants. The hard life of the migrants resulted in many of them seeking solace in the four evils: opium smoking, prostitution, gambling and secret societies.

Enjoy lunch and marvel at the skyline from the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel before boarding a colourful riverboat for a 30-minute ride down the Singapore River. In Raffles’ days, the riverboats carried goods. Today, they are a popular way to experience a kaleidoscope of historic river and harbor images, including the “godown” warehouses, the shophouses, the six bridges built by the British and the gracious buildings of the old waterfront set against the towering skyline of the new business district.

The day wraps up with a visit to Arab Street, the old center of the Malay community. Today, Arab Street is abundant with glittery and lavish fashion items that include the finest lace, sparkling semi-precious stones, ostrich feathers, iron-on diamantes, gold thread, wholesales bales of silk and organza with dazzling rainbow hues and intensities. Traditional rattan is also sold in little India’s street shops, and the beautiful gold-domed Sultan Mosque is located here.

After this comprehensive and enlightening tour of the city, you will return to your hotel to enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure or you may choose to stay in the city and make your own way back to your hotel. Dinner is on your own today.

DAY 3

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, you will be met mid-morning by your guide for your tour to “Gardens by the Bay”. These Gardens capture the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to love and work – making Singapore a leading global city of the 21st century.

Underlying the concept of Gardens by the Bay are the principles of environmental sustainability. Comprising two glass biomes, the Conservatories replicate the cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean and semi-arid sub-tropical regions and the cool-moist climate of the Tropical Montane region. They house a diverse collection of plants that are not commonly seen in this part of the world and are of high conservation value.

Visit the Cloud Forest, a mysterious world veiled in mist. A 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding the world’s tallest indoor waterfall showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000-meters above sea level.

Next, step into the Flower Dome and you will marvel in awe of nature as well as the spectacular and innovative designs. The Flower Dome replicates the cool-dry climate of Mediterranean regions.

You may wish to stroll along the Skyway and take in a view of the Gardens from above. (there is a separate fee to walk along the Skyway)

Truly a spectacular and colorful national icon, Gardens by the Bay will capture the imagination of everyone who visits.

Next, visit the oldest hotel in Singapore, Raffles Hotel, where you can enjoy their signature cocktail at the Long Bar – the Singapore Sling. This classic gin cocktail was developed sometime before 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon, who was a bar tender at the Long Bar.

After this tour, you will return to your hotel to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Following check out, you will transfer to the Singapore International Airport. Upon arrival, proceed through check-in for your flight to Siem Reap. You will be accompanied on the flight by a representative from our local ground agency. (Direct flights are not guaranteed)

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and assisted with obtaining your Cambodian Entry Visa. Once this has been issued, board an air-conditioned coach for the transfer to your hotel for check-in.

Note: Passports will be collected by our local ground agents in order to process the on-arrival Visa. They will be returned to you on Day 4 en-route to the Siem Reap Airport.

After some time to grab a quick lunch at the hotel (on own) the group will proceed to the Angkor Wat Complex - the highlight of this program. You will have approximately 2 hours to explore its archaeological treasures with your guide before returning to your hotel.

Your guide will point out the best spots for taking photos of this massive temple complex as you walk amidst the moss-peppered cobbled pathways, gaze up at the intricately carved tower tops and perhaps climb the steep and narrow temple steps that lead to wide courtyards. Lose yourself in contemplation as you catch the rays of the sun dancing off the bas relief carvings at sunset, the chatter of monkeys reverberating off the temple walls.

Back at the hotel, dinner is on your own.

DAY 3

Following breakfast, enjoy a visit to the city of Angkor Thom including the renowned Bayon Temple built in the 12th century, the Terrace of the Leper King and the Elephant Terrace, a sandstone wall covered with carved hunting scenes and three-headed elephants.

Continue to visit the un-restored temple of Ta Prohm which is famous for its forest atmosphere and enormous fig trees. This temple looks just as it did when the first European explorer arrived. It is also the location of many of the scenes filmed for Angelina Jolie’s huge blockbuster movie, Tomb Raider.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant and after lunch visit Artisans d’Angkor, a school for underprivileged youth where they are taught the ancient crafts of wood and stone carving, creating lacquer ware, painting and silk weaving. Stroll through the school to watch young Cambodian artisans learning a trade and continuing age-old traditions. Many of the students’ crafts are offered for sale in the school store, ranging from beautiful silks and stunning lacquer ware to elegant stone and wood carvings. All the proceeds go towards the running of the school.

Continue to look around The Old Market (Phsar Chas) - the most popular with tourists and visitors, offering the greatest selection of souvenirs, textiles, handicrafts, statues, and curios of any of the traditional markets.

Back at the hotel, enjoy dinner and an Apsara cultural show

*Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing.

*Full length trousers or pants and/or skirts covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting Angkor Wat

Although dinners are not formal, you may want to bring something a bit dressier for that time of day.

Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guest are requested to take-off their foot wear and hats when visiting religious sites.

Currency:

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. You should take smaller denominations of US Dollars with you, as they will keep you from ending up with a lot of local change that you will not be able to re-exchange back home.

Electricity:

Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets. We recommend travelling with your own adaptor kits should you have electronic devices.

Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Bangkok and Siem Reap is potable.

Luggage:

For a program of this length and nature, we suggest no more than one suitcase per person.

Luggage Weight Restrictions: 20kg (44lbs) -Light luggage would be most suited for this 3-night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense. If you wish you can store excess luggage in Singapore at the hotel. Please ensure that all excess bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. Pack accordingly as excess bags will be collected before you leave Singapore and you will be re-united with your luggage on day 4 on board the ship. Note that Oceania Cruises, the hotel, nor our local ground operator are liable for any lost or missing items. We do not recommend leaving valuables behind or in checked luggage. You should keep any valuables with you in your carry-on hand bag.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at OCI at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Oceania Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

PRE - EXPLORE SINGAPORE - 2022-23

Enjoy a fascinating exploration of Singapore with a sightseeing trip on the Singapore River, admiring landmarks such as the Esplanade and the symbolic Merlion statue. Discover Singapore’s contrasting cultures and fascinating history on a tour of its eclectic neighborhoods. Enjoy lunch and marvel at the skyline from the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and tour Gardens by the Bay, a sprawling waterfront garden and nature park follow by a signature Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel, the oldest hotel in Singapore.

The Fullerton Hotel

The 400-room heritage Fullerton Hotel is housed in the striking Fullerton Building. Now a National Monument, this building is a grand neoclassical landmark which was built in 1928 and was once home to Singapore’s General Post Office, the Exchange Room, Exchange Reference Library, and the prestigious Singapore Club.

Located minutes away is Singapore’s historic precinct and key attractions close by are the National Gallery Singapore, Merlion Park and Gardens by the Bay.

The conservatories are a statement in sustainable engineering and apply a suite of cutting-edge technologies for energy-efficient solutions in cooling.

After this comprehensive and enlightening tour of the city, you will return to your hotel to enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure, or you may choose to stay in the city and make your own way back to your hotel. Dinner is on your own today.

DAY 4 – December 27, 2023

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met by your guide for your tour to “Gardens by the Bay” by daylight.

Singapore is known for its hot and humid weather, with little variation throughout the year. The average daytime temperature is 31ºC (88ºF), dropping to around 24ºC (75ºF) in the evenings. The monsoon season can bear down pretty heavily on our tropical weather from November onwards, so be prepared for rain on a daily basis during this period.

What to Bring:

When packing, keep in mind that you will be in the tropics. Light, cool, and casual clothing is recommended all year round. For more formal occasions, men should wear jackets, ties, or long-sleeved batik shirts whereas women should wear dresses.

Local Currency:

The currency used in Singapore is the Singapore dollar (S$). Money changing services can be found not only at the Singapore Changi Airport but also at most shopping centers and hotels around the island. You can also access the automated teller machines (ATMs) located everywhere (even in the most obscure bits) in Singapore, that accept most of the main credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Electricity

Singapore's electricity voltage is 220-240V with ac, 50 cycles per second. Generally, the electricity outlets are three-pronged - two parallel flat pins with a ground outlet. You may purchase adaptors in any of the hardware stores or rent one from the hotel. We recommend travelling with your own international adaptor should you have electric devices.

Documents and Visa Requirements:

Visitors must have a valid passport or internationally recognized travel document valid for minimum 6 months beyond the date of entry into Singapore. Guests should check with their local embassy for any visa requirements for their nationality.

Guests are required to submit an electronic Singapore Arrival Card within three days prior to arrival into Singapore. They are not permitted any earlier. POST - ANGKOR WAT FROM SINGAPORE - 2022-24

Just outside Cambodia’s Siem Reap, a unique and thrilling adventure awaits you in the jungles of Angkor, where you can uncover the rich history and grand architecture of the Khmer Empire. Obscured by dense vegetation for centuries, the glorious temples of Angkor comprise one of the world’s largest religious monuments. The most famous is the enormous Angkor Wat, whose soaring walls are covered with intricate carvings. You will also pass through the imposing gates of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, to explore the renowned Bayon Temple.

Please note:

-There is extensive walking over uneven ground at the temple sites - at times up to 2 km, with steps at Bayon and Angkor Wat. This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulty or if confined to a wheelchair. It can also be very hot and humid there.

-The Cambodian visa fee is included in the tour and will be applied upon arrival at Siem Reap Airport

-Flight schedules are subject to change thus the tour sequence may vary

-Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and assisted with obtaining your Cambodian Entry Visa and the Angkor Temple Passes required for touring. Once this has been issued, board an air-conditioned coach for the transfer to your hotel for check-in and lunch on your own.

OVERLAND - KHMER KALEIDOSCOPE (SIN-BKK) 2023

This incredible journey invites guests to reflect on the past as they experience the present opportunities and beauty of today. Begin with a visit to the sobering Tuol Sleng Museum in Phnom Penh, a sobering reminder of the brutal tragedy brought about by the temporary rule of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. Regroup in the Russian Market to experience the present resilience and beauty of the local culture. Take in the traditional design of The Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, built upon the site of the Banteay Kev, a citadel built in 1813. Then, trek into the ancient with a visit to the wondrous Angkor Wat for an unforgettable experience.

DAY 1 – May 18, 2023

Disembark the ship in Singapore and transfer by coach to the Airport for a flight to Phnom Penh.

Upon arrival in Phnom Penh you will be met and assisted with obtaining a Cambodian Entry Visa. Once this has been issued, proceed to the hotel for check-in. Dinner is on your own.

Day 2 – May 19, 2023

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out. This morning visit Tuol Sleng Museum, originally a local high school which was taken over in 1975 by the Khmer Rouge and converted into “Security Prison 21” (S - 21). During the three years of Khmer Rouge brutality the prison became synonymous with terror. Today the prison has reopened as a museum and offers a grim reminder of the excesses of the Khmer Rouge.

After you have had time to absorb the tragic events, your guide will return you to hotel via a Russian Market to lighten your spirits as you browse the various goods on offer, re-assured that despite the country’s dark history, the good people of Cambodia have persevered.

Named thanks to its popularity with visitors from the former USSR in the 1980s, the Russian Market is probably the city's best source of objects d'art and craft items.

Your guide will lead you around the market and be on hand to explain some of the more curious items for sale, including wooden and stone carvings, various ritual objects, silverware, and old Indochinese notes and coins.

Thirty minutes outside of Phnom Penh to the somber 'Killing Fields' of the Khmer Rouge and the mass graves that tells the dark story of Cambodia’s disturbing past.

After lunch at a local restaurant you will visit The Royal Palace. This structure was constructed earlier this century on the site of the Banteay Kev, a citadel built in 1813. Keen-eyed travelers may spot the design is strongly influenced by The Royal Palace in Bangkok.

Together with your guide, venture inside the Palace's Silver Pagoda and its surrounding compound (the only section open to visitors). The Silver Pagoda, also known as Wat Preah Keo, was given its name because of over 5,000 silver tiles (weighing 1kg each) that cover the floor.

Continue your exploration of Phnom Penh at the National Museum of Khmer Art and Archaeology, otherwise known as 'Musée des Beaux-Arts' or 'Musée Albert Sarraut'. This museum is considered to be one of the finest museums of classical Cambodian art.

This evening enjoy dinner at Friends’ Restaurant and then a cultural show at the National Museum.

DAY 3 – May 20, 2023

After breakfast and checking out, transfer to the Phnom Penh International Airport for a flight to Siem Reap.

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and taken to the Angkor Site to collect your temple passes which are required for touring. Once these have been issued, transfer to your hotel for check-in and a light lunch.

After lunch, venture to the Angkor Wat Temple Complex.

This evening dinner is on own.

Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, make your way to the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort.

Nestled on the peaceful Ping River, Anantara Chiang Mai Resort is a chic contemporary resort built around a 100-year-old heritage house which once belonged to the British Consulate. The rooms and suites are housed in a sleek, modern building decorated in a simple yet sophisticated style with elements of Thai design. Though sometimes quite hot, the lack of rain still leaves this good time of year to visit the temples.

*Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing.

*Full length trousers or pants and/or skirts covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting the temple

Local Currency:

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most accepted in Thailand. The local currency is the Thai Baht.

Luggage information:

20kg (44lbs) - Light luggage would be most suited for this 3-night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense.

POST - EXPLORE SINGAPORE - 2023-24

Discover Singapore’s contrasting cultures and fascinating history on a tour of its eclectic neighborhoods coupled with a sightseeing cruise on the Singapore River. Marvel at the skyline from the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Enjoy lunch at Clove Restaurant and tour Gardens by the Bay, a sprawling waterfront garden and nature park followed by a signature Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel, the oldest hotel in Singapore.

DAY 1

After disembarking the ship, you will be met by your guide at the pier for an introductory tour to discover the multi religion and culture of Singapore.

A visit at the National Museum. The National Museum of Singapore is dedicated to inspiring visitors with Singapore tales. The National Museum of Singapore, founded in 1887, is the country’s oldest museum. The museum explores the significant events and individuals who have formed Singapore’s social history and preserves and interprets it.

Next, visit the Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands and be amazed with a birds-eye view of the city from the top of Marina Bay Sands’ Skypark – it is a roof like no other, perched 200 metres in the air with observation deck in the clouds.

Enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch at Clove Restaurant

After lunch, we continue our exploration of the city by boarding a colourful riverboat for a 30-minute ride down the Singapore River.

After this comprehensive and enlightening tour of the city, you will check in at your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening at your own leisure Dinner is on your own today.

The Mandarin Oriental is an award-winning property with a prime location close to the financial hub and easy access to luxury boutiques and entertainment venues. It houses five renowned restaurants, an award-winning bar and a lounge overlooking the spectacular Marina Bay.

DAY 2

After breakfast at your hotel you will be met by your guide for your tour to “Gardens by the Bay”.

The conservatories are a statement in sustainable engineering and apply a suite of cutting-edge technologies for energy-efficient solutions in cooling.

DAY 3

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then the remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the sights and sounds of Singapore at your own pace.

Something worth trying and close by is the Singapore Flyer - Asia’s largest giant observation wheel. Standing at a stunning 165m from the ground, the Flyer offers you breathtaking, panoramic views of the Marina Bay Sands and beyond. There’s also a range of shops, restaurants and facilities nearby. POST - EXPLORE SINGAPORE - 2025

DAY 1

After disembarking the ship, you will be met by your guide at the pier for an introductory tour to discover the multi religion and culture of Singapore.

Housed within 3 traditional shop houses, each level of the Heritage Centre takes you to a different period in the history of Chinatown and allows you to trace the lives of its early occupants.

These Gardens capture the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to love and work – making Singapore a leading global city of the 21st century.

Should you have a late departing flight you may wish to book an extra night so that you have occupation of your room until your departure. You will be asked to vacate your room by 12:00pm. Day rooms can only be purchased directly through the hotel.
